Paragliding
Paragliding in Lochaber offers some of the most scenic and challenging flying anywhere in the UK.
The White Corries at the top of Glencoe and Aonach Mor above Fort William are our premier sites. These provide venues suitable for everyone from the relative newcomer to the committed cross-country adventurer. These locations rival anything in the UK or the Alps.
Both sites have ski lift facilities that mean you can get to the take-off points quickly and easily. At the White Corries you are faced with a wonderful open panorama to the north. There is plenty of space for safe easy landings for the less experienced; while the thermal-hungry expert will be tempted by the spectacular peaks of Buchaille Etive Mor and the Aonach Eagach ridge. Or experts can take a breathtaking journey southwest to the sea over Glen Etive and the surrounding peaks. The scope for cross-country flights from here is vast, with 100km already recorded!
Aonach Mor looks out over Fort William and the Great Glen. The UK's only mountain gondola lifts you effortlessly to 650m above sea level. Then a ten-minute walk takes you to the main take-off of Sgurr Finnisg-aig. This is a site for the more experienced as the launch is steep and landing zones are restricted and committing. Once in the air, hooking into the house thermal above the forest and quarry will hoist you up over Ben Nevis, Britain's highest summit at 1344m / 4440feet.
