Horse Riding in Lochaber

Horse Riding

Horse riding in Lochaber is mostly on forestry roads at Glen Righ, Glengarry pine forest, Glen Loy and sections of the Great Glen Way. Fassfern estate also has lovely tracks. Older forestry roads with grassy centres are particularly good. But in forests where felling is underway, the tracks tend to be much more stony.

Horse riding gives you a different perspective on the countryside and is the perfect way to enjoy the outdoors in a leisurely way.

For a real feeling of freedom why not try a beach ride? There are plenty of opportunities at Morar and around Arisaig, near Castle Stalker in Duror and also at Kentra Bay in Ardnamurchan.

An access group has been set up locally to look at improving paths and creating circular rides for horses. To get in touch with the group contact Kirsty Barr on 01397 702184.

The new access laws apply to horses as well as to walkers and cyclists - find out more at www.outdooraccess-scotland.com
