Ancient, culturally rich and steeped in history, Lochaber is a charismatic and stunning area of the West Highlands. Learn more about the legendary past of the area, such as the Massacre of Glencoe and the Jacobite Rebellion.

But there’s more to Lochaber's rich history than just its warrior past – it’s been shaped by mining, hydroelectricity, aluminium, the Commandos, herring fishing, the Caledonian Canal and the West Highland Railway.

Visit one of the many local museums to hear more of Lochaber’s story – and gain a new perspective on the landscape and its people.

Pick up a copy of the ‘Museums in Lochaber’ leaflet from any tourist office to find out more about 10 great local museums.

There is also a website with more information on the local museums (with the exception of the Glencoe and North Lorn Folk Museum in Glencoe which currently has no website.)
