Glen Nevis

Fort William is the main town in Lochaber, providing the bulk of accommodation and services for the area. It nestles between Loch Linnhe and the steep slopes of Ben Nevis on the main north/south road. Glen Nevis and the start of the Ben Nevis path are only 5 minutes away from the centre of town, allowing you explore this famous and picturesque glen. From the magnificent Steall falls at the head of Glen Nevis to the ancient vitrified fort on it's side, there is a wealth of things to do. It goes without saying that the start of the Ben Nevis footpath is here, with a very good visitor's centre at the bottom, providing practical information for those attempting the hill, alongside the fascinating history of the highest mountain in the UK.

Fort William provides the ideal base for a holiday - from here you can take a cruise to Seal Island, catch the steam train to Mallaig, see a Scottish show, taste the "Dew of Ben Nevis" whisky, and shop for that essential outdoor kit to name a few. The town boasts stunning views down Loch Linnhe and Loch Eil, and north up the Great Glen fault. It is dwarfed by the Nevis Range of mountains with the ski area on Aonach Mor a short 10 minute drive away.
